For a decade, I navigated the open waters of Bristol Bay, Alaska, as a commercial salmon fisherman. Starting with a family friend's operation, I eventually transitioned to a professional fishing outfit. Each summer, I immersed myself in a two-month penance aboard a 32-foot drift gillnet boat, enduring grueling 20-hour shifts punctuated by brief periods of rest. The relentless challenges of the open sea, coupled with the physical demands of the job, have instilled in me an unwavering work ethic and a deep appreciation for perseverance. Through the sweat, sleep deprivation, and the awe-inspiring beauty of the Alaskan wilderness, I found the financial means to pursue my higher education, fueling my ambition to succeed.
